Smart Shadows needs a transparent PNG — a subject cut out on a transparent background.

One cut-out, one private PNG.
Provider settings stay server-side. SimilarPNG owns pricing, routing, validation, retention, and credit reconciliation while you control the source, the direction, and the softness of the shadow.

Frequently asked questions
Before you process
How do I add a shadow to a product photo online?
Upload a transparent PNG of your product cut out on a transparent background, then set the shadow direction with the angle dial and adjust distance, blur, opacity, and color while a live preview updates. When it looks right, apply the shadow once and SimilarPNG returns a validated private PNG that keeps the original dimensions.
Is this drop shadow generator online really free to preview?
Yes. The in-browser preview casts an approximate offset, blurred shadow behind your cut-out for free so you can dial in the angle, distance, blur, and opacity before spending anything. A valid shadowed PNG costs a small, clearly shown credit amount, and failed jobs release their reservation.
What kind of image do I need for product photography shadows?
Smart Shadows needs a transparent PNG: the subject cut out with a transparent background, not a photo on a solid or white backdrop. If your image has no transparency, run it through the Background Remover first, then bring the clean cut-out here to cast a grounding shadow.
How do I control the direction and softness of the png shadow effect free?
The angle control is a compass dial: 0 casts the shadow up, 90 to the right, 180 down, and 270 to the left, clockwise. Distance moves the shadow farther from the subject, blur softens its edge from a hard shadow to a diffuse one, and opacity sets how dark it appears. At least some distance or blur is required.
Is the shadow preview accurate, and does SimilarPNG keep my image private?
The browser preview is a close approximation that helps you position and soften the shadow; the final render is produced and validated server-side and is always authoritative. Your source and result stay private, are reachable only through owner-scoped preview and download routes, and expire under your account's retention policy.
